Social Graces .Is this what the society lacks ?
No absolute statements should be made but what I encountered today really turned me off
I was on a train ,and encountered this
1.Train starts
2.Person with a child standing all the way
3.Man sits down with psp
4.Some chivalrous young man spoke ''Excuseme sir can you please let this lady have a seat ,she has been standing since clementi ''
5 My heart applauded
6.Guess what happened
7 .Guess again
8.That guy ignored and continue playing his psp
What heartless society is this ,or what upbringing is this .Or rather what lack of upbringing did that full grown man have .

There was this time, when I tried to give my seat away to an elderly woman. The moment I stood up, this young man took my seat. I glared at him, and he actually dared to glare back like as if he didn't do anything wrong.
I agree with you. Many people in our society today lack social grace. Maybe there should be some public education to make them less selfish and more thoughtful for others.
